Last week, seca exhibited at the 4th Annual Canadian Obesity Summit in Toronto, Canada. Attended by nearly 1,500 primary care practitioners that specialize in obesity counseling and management, the Canadian Obesity Summit is a unique interdisciplinary conference designed to share the current understanding of the causes, complications, treatments and prevention approaches for obesity.

According to the Canadian Community Health Survey, one-quarter of adults in Canada are obese with a body mass index of over 30. The survey also shows that one in five children are overweight and one in ten is considered obese. The Canadian government and its partners have committed to $4.5 million in funding to treat and better understand the country’s obesity epidemic.

At the conference, seca showcased its medical Body Composition Analyzer (mBCA) 514 at the show, which offers a unique solution for treating and preventing obesity. The mBCA captures a snap shot of the patient’s fat and muscle mass, along with total body water. In just 17 seconds, the mBCA provides an easy-to-read analysis that will assist the physician’s diagnosis and reports the patient’s progress to help create customized weight loss plans for their patients. The mBCA was a must-see item at the conference, and was even featured in the local news! Check out the video that features the seca mBCA 514 at the 4th Annual Canadian Obesity Summit here:
